You never know what kind of distorted, hateful spin the far right pseudo-Republicans will spew on any given subject. I say pseudo because it is only in the last 12 years that a fringe extremist element has co-opted the Republican party and the legitimate conservative movement in a war-mongering theocratic terror. As a moderate democrat I always had respect for and enjoyed the rivalry of two parties that both had the best interests of the country in mind - not so anymore, as we all know.

Anyway, here is how they are now spinning the capture and resultant outcome of the capture of the 15 British sailors and Marines. Apparently they are "cowards" who deserve to arrested, imprisoned and worse and they are a shame to Great Britain:

From National Review
Brit Wimps [John Derbyshire]
Once again, it's me and Ralph Peters on the same wavelength, deploring the cowardice of the British sailors and marines kidnapped by Iran. When it happened, I said I hoped the ones who'd shamed their country would be court-martialed on return to Blighty, and given dishonorable discharges after a couple years breaking rocks in the Outer Hebrides (which, believe me—I've been there—have a LOT of rocks). Now, I confess, I wouldn't shed a tear if some worse fate befell them.

From the New York Post - Ralph Peters
April 3, 2007 -- THE greatest shock from the Middle East this year hasn't been terrorist ruthlessness or the latest Iranian tantrum. It's that members of Britain's Royal Marines wimped out in a matter of days and acquiesced in propaganda broadcasts for their captors.

Of course they both fail to mention that the Rules of Engagement their commanders and government gave them was to NOT fire, not engage and to surrender if need be. They also have no idea what happened during the captivity as the reports are not in yet. I'm sure these two chicken hawk hypocrites would fold under the mean stare of an Iranian Republican Guardsmen in 5 minutes, with dribble exiting their mouth and a pool of urine at their feet.
