The world's most populous countries in order are:

China, India, The United States, Indonesia, Brasil. The U.S. will reach 300,000,000 people in October, according to the Census Bureau. In 1967 the population reached 200,000,000. That means in the lifetimes of we Gen Xers we have gained 100,000,000 people. That just boggles the mind.

At the turn of the century China had a population of 400,000,000, its now 1.3 Billion.

Also, according to the Census Bureau the 300 millionth person will likely be born Mexican, in Los Angeles with Spanish speaking parents and bilingual siblings.

100,000,000 in 40 years. Wow.
