"Father Abraham, what have you done? Father Abraham, and all your sons. Father Abraham, what have you done? I say no more, no more, no war, no more, wipe your tears away"

PAT ROBERTSON TELLS TOWN, IF YOU HAVE A DISASTER, DON'T TURN TO GOD HE HATES YOU NOW

SENATOR SAM BROWNBACK (REPUBLICAN, DUH) CLAIMS GAY MARRAIGE IS MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION FACING US

THEPHOENIXNYC BECOMES MORE AND MORE ASHAMED TO BE AN AMERICA

Among the many financial, political and cultural disasters gripping the United States right now there is one that keeps jumping of the face and punching me in the nose.

That is, the way Christians in this country have given Christianity a really bad name. You can find philosophical works, theological writings, cultural criticims and articles galore on how established state churches from all over the world have been used to justify the political, financial and military goals of governments the world over and the U.S. of the early 21st century is no different.

What is different is the level to which so many self-professed Christians have abandoned any pretense of the Christian message in order to further their agendas, divide the nation and reap the misguided "rewards" their rhetoric is aimed at achieving.

In his latest tirade, former presidential candidate (my fingers shake when I type that) and leader of the 700 Club and Christian Broadcasting Network, Pat Robertson has come up with this gem.

"Robertson warns Pennsylvania voters of God's wrath
Eight 'intelligent design' school board members lost election

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Conservative Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson told citizens of a Pennsylvania town that they had rejected God by voting their school board out of office for supporting "intelligent design" and warned them Thursday not to be surprised if disaster struck.

Robertson, a former Republican presidential candidate and founder of the influential Christian Broadcasting Network and Christian Coalition, has made similar apocalyptic warnings and provocative statements before.

Last summer, he hit the headlines by calling for the assassination of leftist Venezuelan Present Hugo Chavez, one of President George W. Bush's most vocal international critics.

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city," Robertson said on his daily television show broadcast from Virginia, "The 700 Club."

"And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there," he said.

In voting on Tuesday, eight Dover, Pennsylvania, school board members up for re-election lost their seats after trying to introduce a statement on "intelligent design" to high school biology students

NOW LET'S BREAK THIS DOWN. The God who forgives all sins, even murder, will smite an entire community and because they took out a school board that wanted to mix science and religion in the same class and when they look for repentance, his back will be turned.

This is right up there with the www.godhatesfags.com people.

That was today.

YESTERDAY's AGENDA-PUSHING, LYING WEASAL, NO BACKBONE ABOMINATION is (drum roll please)

SENATOR SAM BROWNBACK of KANSAS (whose school board has just approved introducing Intelligent Design into science classes).

WASHINGTON -- A conservative push to ban gay marriage through a constitutional amendment gained renewed momentum Wednesday after a Senate panel led by Kansas Republican Sam Brownback narrowly approved the measure.

The "Marriage Protection Amendment" would define marriage as a union between a man and a woman, effectively rescinding the Massachusetts law that made gay marriage legal last year.

"None of us takes amending the Constitution lightly," said Brownback, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary subcommittee on the Constitution. "The plain fact is this amendment has been exhaustively studied and it really is time to act."

So, let's get this straight. We are losing a war in Iraq, the Taliban is regaining power in Afghanistan, we are torturing prisoners and dropping chemical weapons on Iraqis, our future is mortgaged to the Chinese and the Saudis, someone leaked classified info from the West Wing, Katrina and Rita destroyed 500,000 jobs, India and China are killing us on the education front and the good Senator from Kansas...

...Is worried that somewhere, two man, may love and care for each other. This is the same tired tactic this low lifes have used for ten years. Forget the economy, forget foreign policy, focus on guns, gays and God to stay in power.

And Americans eat it up. Sad, so so sad.
