Further proof that the USA is devolving into a hard line Christian society? A plot to speed up the Rapture? A good marketing ploy?

This is a far cry from the interpretation of scripture that for hundreds of years forbid Christians from lending and profiting which led to the admittance of Jews into societies to be moneylenders (and then inevitably forced them out when state funds ran out and could not be paid back - hello pogrom hello expulsion).
